Dolly's Life of Many Colors Museum is a vibrant and immersive museum experience celebrating the life and legacy of country music icon Dolly Parton. Located on the third floor of her new SongTeller Hotel in downtown Nashville, Tennessee (123 3rd Ave. N), the museum spans over 20,000 square feet and is positioned as her largest exhibition to date.

From her humble beginnings in the Smoky Mountains to global superstardom, the museum invites guests to walk through Dolly's story – the music, movies, style, philanthropy, and the heart behind it all. Using state-of-the-art multimedia, gallery exhibits, and personal artifacts, the museum highlights her songwriting, iconic performances, fashion, and values of family, faith, and imagination that have defined her journey.

The museum is designed not just for Dolly fans, but for anyone who dreams big. With accessible spaces, engaging environments, and a signature colorful aesthetic, it oYers an experience that inspires curiosity, creativity, and connection.

Position Summary

The Manager of Events and Group Sales leads the museum's special events and group sales initiatives, driving revenue through wedding receptions, corporate events, private parties, and large group bookings. The role combines event planning and execution expertise with a strategic sales focus, ensuring that all events and group sales eYorts deliver exceptional guest experiences while achieving revenue goals.

The manager oversees all aspects of event operation, from conceptualization and marketing to on-site coordination and post-event follow-up. They also cultivate relationships with local businesses, tour operators, schools, and community organizations to drive group sales and repeat business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Planning and Execution
    • Coordinate all aspects of private and museum-hosted events, including weddings, receptions, bachelorette parties, corporate functions, and social celebrations.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients from inquiry through event conclusion.
    • Develop detailed event timelines, floor plans, and logistical outlines.
    • Oversee on-site event setup, execution, and tear down, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality guest experiences.
    • Manage event staff, vendors, and internal partners to deliver seamless events.
  • Business Development and New Event Creation
    • Collaborate with leadership to conceptualize and launch new event offerings and experiences.
    • Conduct market research and competitor benchmarking to identify trends and revenue opportunities.
    • Develop proposals, pricing, and sales collateral for new event types.
    • Partner with key stakeholders to promote event packages and seasonal campaigns.
  • Group Sales and Business Development
    • Identify, cultivate, and manage group sales opportunities for schools, tour operators, corporate clients, and community organizations.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, travel partners, and event planners to maximize bookings and repeat visits.
    • Monitor sales performance, track conversion rates, and report out on events and group sales revenue metrics.
  • Financial and Administrative Management
    • Prepare event and group sales budgets, track costs, and ensure profitability targets are met.
    • Support forecasting and reporting for events and group sales.
    • Negotiate vendor contracts, ensuring best pricing and service quality. 
    • Maintain accurate documentation, invoices, and post-activity reports.
  • Guest Experience and Quality Standards
    • Uphold Dolly's Life of Many Colors Museum's standards of hospitality and professionalism across all events and group sales efforts.
    • Anticipate client needs, resolve issues efficiently, and ensure client satisfaction.
    • Solicit feedback to drive continuous improvement in the event and group sales programs.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration
    • Coordinate with museum operations, retail, catering, and facilities teams to ensure alignment and resource availability.
    • Partner with key stakeholders to show case events and group sales offerings on digital and social channels.
    • Collaborate with Finance partners to ensure proper billing and revenue recognition.

Qualifications

  • Required
    • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Planning, Business Administration, or a related field, master's degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in event management, group sales, hospitality, or venue operations.
    • Proven success in leading large-scale events and driving group sales revenue.
    • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities including client relationship management.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Preferred
    • Experience in museum, cultural attractions, group sales, or special event venue settings.
    • Proven success in developing and launching new event and group sales concepts.
    • Proficiency with event management software (e.g. Triple Seat, Caterease, Social Tables) and Microsoft Office Suite.
